The benefits of Verizon’s 4G LTE are well known: faster speeds, reduced latency and better in-building penetration. For some, this means downloading movies in minutes and songs in seconds to their smartphones or tablets. For others, it’s an essential service to power their businesses.

To Tracey Sipple, a speech and language pathologist based in rural Seymour, WI, it’s just that – her key to business success. Tracey works for a company that provides speech therapy to students in underserved areas via video streaming on the Internet. A reliable connection is crucial to her job.

For those in major cities, this is no problem. But those in more rural areas know, sometimes it’s not as easy as it sounds.

In February, we told you about Jeff and Lisa Arndt, a couple from the town of Oregon, Wisconsin, who were embarking on a cross-country bike trip called Pedal 4 Paws to raise money for training service dogs for children with autism. What makes their journey extra special is that they’re riding from San Diego, California, all the way to St. Augustine, Florida…  a bit longer than your standard charity walk or 5K.

Jeff and Lisa have written a blog post every day of their trip, sharing with their readers the excitement of seeing such a diverse and remote section of the American landscape. They’ve shared incredible photos, perspective on their difficult journey and all the gritty details you’d expect to come along with such a trip. To help them document all of these amazing steps, we happily provided a Samsung Galaxy Note II and a Samsung Galaxy Tab so they’d have a connection while they travel.

If you’re looking for a dose of real life adventure, swing by their blog and read up on their trip. Some highlights …

With most of the major cities in the state having access to 4G LTE, our network team is dedicated to filling out the map, making 4G LTE available everywhere 3G is currently found. Recently, we flipped the switch to bring 4G LTE to the following areas:

In 2012, Verizon Wireless’ philanthropic arm, the Verizon Foundation, donated more than $450,000 in grants to non-profit organizations in Illinois and Wisconsin.

The Verizon Foundation helps people to live healthy, safe and independent lives by addressing disparities in education, health care and sustainability. Since 2000, the Verizon Foundation has invested more than half a billion dollars to improve the communities where Verizon employees work and live.

As part of the Foundation’s focus on health care, many resources are also dedicated to domestic violence prevention, complementing Verizon Wireless’ HopeLine® program, which turns unused cell phones into support for domestic violence victims and survivors. Dollars are invested in organizations that provide education, prevention, victim relief and empowerment resources.
