GREAT PLAINS REGION

Local Teen Fights Violence with Music – KSTP-TV – Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN (June 1, 2012)

Ever since Shanell McCoy could write words, she’s been turning them into music. Now she’s turning that music into a message as one of seven young artists chosen nationally to write a song for the Pave the Way Project. Pave the Way is sponsored by Verizon and aims to reduce teen dating violence. “I feel that teen dating violence is something that is looked over and people don’t really look into it, because it’s such a hidden issue,” said Shanell.

Grandma’s Marathon notes: Cadigan to receive Marsh Nelson Media Award – Duluth News Tribune – Duluth, MN (June 7, 2012)

Grandma’s Marathon has announced a number of annual award winners leading up to race weekend June 15-16. … Runners in the 36th Grandma’s Marathon and 22nd Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon on June 16 can be tracked by family and friends through a free Runner Tracking System provided by Verizon Wireless for a fifth year.

MICHIGAN / INDIANA / KENTUCKY REGION

Verizon expanding 4G LTE network to northern Michigan – MLive – Traverse City, MI (June 5, 2012)

Verizon Wireless Tuesday announced it is launching its high-speed 4G LTE network in parts of northern Michigan on June 21. Reaching speeds around 10 megabits per second, the Verizon LTE network is the fastest wireless system operating in Michigan. The company claims the 4G network has covered more than two-thirds of the U.S. population in more than 250 markets.

Verizon’s 4G LTE Network Coming To Columbus, Seymour – News/Talk 1010 WCSI Radio – Columbus, IN (June 5, 2012)

Verizon Wireless announced Tuesday that it’s bringing the nation’s largest 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network to Columbus and Seymour Thursday, June 21. Company officials say with the 4G LTE network, customers can use 4G LTE wireless devices to access the Internet faster, listen to music or watch video, take advantage of thousands of applications, and stay in touch with family and friends, all with speeds up to 10 times faster.

ILLINOIS / WISCONSIN REGION

Summer travel apps – WITI-TV – Milwaukee, WI (June 3, 2012)

Kirsten Albiero, manager of the Verizon Wireless Bayshore store, joined the morning crew at WITI-TV in Milwaukee to discuss three fun apps that will help families for their summer travel plans. Kirsten shared details for Roadside America, TripIt and TV Food Map.

Better Business Bureau Warns of Spam Text Messages – www.mystateline.com – Rockford, IL (June 6, 2012)

Cell phone providers say close to 5 billion text messages were sent in the last year, and that number is expected to grow. As well as the number of spammers working to steal every bit of your personal information for their own… Verizon Wireless East State St. Store Manager Steve McDowell has helped many Verizon customers in the past with the same issue. “Customers can come in and block up to 12 email addresses or phone numbers of their choice and they can change that as they need too,” he said.

KANSAS / MISSOURI REGION

Weinman Shelter Receives Grant for Violence Education Program – Clayton-Richmond Heights Patch & Ballwin-Ellisville Patch – Clayton-Richmond Heights and Ballwin-Ellisville, MO (June 1, 2012)

As part of the company’s national HopeLine program, Verizon Wireless announced today that it has donated $7,000 to the Kathy J. Weinman Shelter for Victims of Domestic Violence. The Kathy J. Weinman Shelter, based in St. Louis County, will use the funds to conduct educational workshops and presentations on intimate partner violence throughout the greater St. Louis metropolitan area.  The shelter operates under the St. Louis County Department of Human Services.

Verizon 4G coming to Jeff City, Lake of the OzarksColumbia Tribune – Columbia, MO (June 6, 2012)

Verizon Wireless today said it is bringing its 4G LTE network to Jefferson City and the Lake of the Ozarks in the “coming weeks.” Verizon is the second wireless carrier to announce plans to bring 4G LTE mobile broadband to central Missouri. Regional wireless carrier U.S. Cellular announced in February that it would bring 4G LTE to Mid-Missouri in the second half of the year.

OHIO / WEST VIRGINIA / PENNSYLVANIA REGION

Verizon Galaxy S III Pre-Orders Start June 6th – Gotta Be Mobile – Ohio (June 4, 2012)

The Samsung Galaxy S III is on the way to Verizon’s 4G LTE network this month. There is no official Galaxy S III release date on Verizon, but customers don’t need to wait long to pre-order the Galaxy S III. Verizon announced that the Samsung Galaxy S III pre-orders will start June 6th at 7AM eastern online.

Verizon announces Samsung Galaxy S III available for pre-order this week – Cleveland Home Technology Examiner – Cleveland, OH (June 4, 2012)

Verizon just announced that the new Samsung Galaxy S III will be available for preorder this week, beginning Wednesday — this is a hot new phone that allows wireless sharing of content with other Samsung devices including Samsung TV, plus voice response capability for dialing calls and selecting music to play. Samsung Galaxy S III looks similar to the iPhone though it’s larger. The biggest differences are inside.
