OHIO / WEST VIRGINIA / PENNSYLVANIA REGION

Verizon Wireless staff steps into fitness – The Cranberry Eagle – Cranberry Township, PA (May 30, 2012)

More than 500 employees at the Verizon Wireless Customer Service Center got out of their cubicles on a sunny and hot Tuesday afternoon to participate in a run/walk to benefit their wellness and fitness. The inaugural Crash the Woods 5K/1 Mile Fun Run Walk on May 22 was part of a wellness program. The event started and finished at the center’s parking lot, traversing a course through the Cranberry Woods office park, with water stations and volunteers on the course.

Verizon fastest carrier in Columbus – The Columbus Dispatch – Columbus, OH (May 31, 2012)

While mobile-phone companies talk about crazy fast speeds using a barrage of techno jargon, real-world questions about dropped calls and text-message speeds often go unanswered. Yesterday, a study was released showing that among the four major wireless carriers, Verizon repeated as fastest for text, data and voice speed in the Columbus market.

Osseo Teen Writes Song In Effort To Stop Dating Violence – CBS Minnesota – Osseo, MN (May 29, 2012)

Studies show about one in four teenagers will experience some type of abuse in a dating relationship. Now, a local singer is doing something about it. Shanell McCoy wrote a song specifically for a national campaign targeting dating violence, which doesn’t have to be physical. “Breathe” is about a person in an unhealthy relationship.

Local Teen Fights Violence with Music – KSTP.com – Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN (May 30, 2012)

An Osseo Senior High School student is competing for a chance to record with Carlos and Salvador Santana. Shannell McCoy joined the PAVE the Way Project, which stands for Preventing Abuse and Violence through Education. Shannell wrote a song that raises awareness of teen dating violence and is one of seven teens nationwide competing to win a recording session with the Grammy-winning artists. The campaign was launched by Verizon Wireless, Minnesota-based Cornerstone, and MTE Inc. It aims to promote healthy relationships through the expression of pop music.

MICHIGAN / INDIANA / KENTUCKY REGION

MAXX Power to Connect – ShelbyvilleToday – Indiana (May 25, 2012)

I got a chance to spend some time with the new Motorola Droid Razr MAXX recently courtesy of Verizon and Kyle Communications. It proved to be a great companion during my visit to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for Pole Day for the 2012 Indy 500. The sleekly designed Droid Razr MAXX has a few particularly impressive features that made it a pleasure to use. First of all the AMOLED screen was awesome.

Razr MAXX: the phone for blabbermouths - The Gizmo Editor – Louisville, KY (May 26, 2012)

Motorola made a splash last winter when it revived its Razr line of skinny mobile phones. The original Razr from 2004 was a flip phone, the new version an Android-based smart phone with a 4.3-inch screen, 4G network access and a case that’s less than one-half inch thick.

ILLINOIS / WISCONSIN REGION

viewdini is a portal to access any video content for Verizon users – Droiddog.com – Milwaukee, WI – (June 4, 2012)

Viewdini is a new app for Verizon customers to stream content to their 4G LTE Android phones or tablets, from places like Netflix, Hulu, Xfinity, and more. You can watch movies or catch up on TV shows, or even search by actor. Not only is there subscription-based content (like Netflix), but there is also rentals and even free content. It’s a one stop app for video content of all kind.

KANSAS / MISSOURI REGION

Business Bulletin Board – Recognition – St. Louis Post-Dispatch – St. Louis, MO (May 25, 2012)

Verizon Wireless’ network in St. Louis outperformed its competition in combined data, voice and text performance in wireless testing conducted to date in 2012 by national research company RootMetrics.

Joplin Tornado Heroes Remembered On Memorial Day - KOMU-TV/Sarah Hill/Google+ – Columbia, MO (May 27, 2012)

KOMU TV anchor and frequent Google+ commentator, Sarah Hill, took time on Memorial Day weekend to share a video documenting Verizon Wireless response to the deadly Joplin tornadoes that struck one year ago this week. The video, which is now posted on the VZW Midwest Area YouTube channel, documents how Verizon Wireless employees responded in the hours immediately after the devastating tornadoes struck.
